Power only when key in off position

I am trying to hook up the indicator light for my aftermarket security system...

I need to hook it to a wire that only has power when the key is in the off position...

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!!!

I took another look, the only thing I can figure out is you have to make one with a 5 pin relay.

This is a drawing showing how to have the cigar lighter / DC power point off with the key in the off position.

The relay is installed the same way with the coil, and power from the DC power point, but the item you are installing is connected to pin 87A.

Or possibly there is a wire that is grounded only when the key is in the off position??

I really am not sure... Grasping at straws here.

Thanks again

I'll explain better...

---------------------------

I have a light that scans back and forth that is supposed to be a warning type light for the security system All it has is a power and a ground wire no harness or anything.

Therefore what i want is to have that light on only when the truck is OFF.

My brother is an electrical engineer and said that for about $3 he can wire up a relay like the one you previously posted. I was just wondering if that is necessary or if there is a way to do it without.

Thanks Again!!!
