Question Problems blinkers,overdrive,auto lights,12v connection

Okay before i begin i have a 2003 f-150 supercab the first problem i am haveing is my blinkers they work fine when i have my steering wheel all the way up but if i move it down one they work for a little bit then they start makeing annoying buzzing sound and they wont flash on the dash? The second thing is that my overdrive won't work nor my auto lamps which i read that they were tied into together in the same fuse i looked up in the internet where the fuses for overdrive is located and i put a new fuse into it but my overdrive nor my auto lamps worked so where to look for the problem?Third my 12v outlet wont work i have 2 of them but 1 works fine but the other one works every now and then whats wrong is there a bad connection?

Sounds like you have an issue with the wire harness in the steering column. Bare or broken wires where it flexes with the tilting of the steering wheel. Remove covers and inspect the wiring.

For the 3 problems.

1. turn signals work only when in one position.

This is usually caused by the connector in the steering wheel column pull apart when you tilt the wheel. If you remove the anti submarine panel / knee panel and the bottom steering wheel column cover, you will find a connector. I think it is 2 rows of 13 or 14 pins (?).
Pull it apart, and check for discolored pins. Clean with an eraser or 1000 grit sandpaper

When you put it together, you might need to zip tie the connector together.

Pull up some slack from the under the dash, and zip tie it to the metal frame, so it does not pull back down again.

2. Over drive switch
This could be a chaffed wire at the bottom of the gear lever, or part of the problem with the connector. With the bottom steering wheel column cover off, you should be able to get a view angle to the bottom of the gear selector to do a visual on the wires.

3. Power point or Cigar lighter or Power point
When you say one is having problems, is it the cigar lighter or the power point or the rear power point ( SCrew has one, I am forgetting on the SCab right now).

Red face turn signal problems

I too am having the same problem on my 2003 F150 super crew as znhunter. In October we took the vehicle in and they replaced the replay switch. It seems to be working fine until this week it started again. blinkers work fine when the steering wheel is in the up position but when you move it down it makes an annoying buzzing noise and blinkers don't work. We also find that sometimes the automatic locks don't lock right away and the overhead dome lights stay on for several miles. I have not checked our outlets to see if they have been effected. We are taking the veh back to the mechanic tomorrow to see what's up. This shouldn't happen every 6 months.

Here is the part most Ford techs don't do :
Pull up some slack from the under the dash, and zip tie it to the metal frame, so it does not pull back down again.

Also, depending on the condition of the connector, and what they actually did you fix it, they might not have zip tie'd the connector together.

Did they actually replace the connector, or just make it work by installing a new MFS, and pulling up on the cable ?

These are different problems. If the dome light stays on, have you tried the sticky at the top of this forum ?

This is if the light is staying on, and the door ajar light stays on, if your dome lights are the only part, this could be something different.

Take a look up behind the cab fuse panel, to check for wet carpet or signs of significant rust ( not just mild surface rust ).
