Rear Power Sliding Window

Hello,

I found out yesterday that my rear power window won't open on my '04 Screw. This has happened before but would eventually work. Now it hasn't worked for several days. I can activate the switch and the interior dome lights dim. This would mean the fuse and power is still good, right? I also tried using my hand to "help" the window open while a friend pushes the buttom, and had no luck with that either. I also don't hear a motor running, but not really sure I ever heard it anyways.

Any Suggestions??? Obvisously, the warranty has expired.

Thanks,

Derik

I would go inspect the motor. To get to it, you have to remove the rear seat backrest then pull off a panel thats against the rear wall of the cab. When you get this far you will see the motor. The motor just pulls 2 cables that move the window back and forth, it's pretty simple.

When you get to the motor, take off the electrical connector and see if your getting power there and when you push the switch your getting the correct polarity signal(a schematic would help, I would htink it's in the back of the haynes or chiltons manual). If your getting power there, see if you can disconnect the cable from the motor and see if it's jammed up or not. If the cables run free, then your motor is shot. You can also test the motor by measuring resitance across the motor winding to see if it's way out of wack........

Check the track to make sure it is clean and unobstructed.

If that is good, then I think Hawkz28 is on the route, problem with the motor.

Technical Articles has a how to on the rear seat removal that is short and concise, when compared to the directions I made from other posts.

I did not use the word doc I made, but went right for the ones in the how to, and it was out in 15 min.
