Odd Electrical Problem - anyone have a clue?

So I have been driving my 2006 FX4 Supercrew with the 5.4L all day today...no problems. I get home from work to pickup the wife and dogs to go pickup some food and as soon as we start up the truck, the radio is flashing and clicking on and off, I hear a clicking noise going on and off in the dash on the passengers side and it seems like the hazard lights are going on and off but nothing blinking on the dash...except for the display that says door ajar...

I try to press the hazard lights on and off and nothing happens. I shut off the truck and its still clicking and making noise with the radio going on and off. I get out of the truck, check the front lights and my hazards lights are blinking kind of fast...I get back in the truck, start it and still everything is going nuts. I turn off the truck and pop the hood, disconnect the battery and finally everything stops! WTF??

I reconnect the battery, start it up and everything seems fine...for now. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do you have the factory radio or an aftermarket radio installed?

The clicking sound is most likely the hazard light relay. As far as the radio goes.... I have no idea the radio and hazard lights are on a seperate fuse. So you might have a short starting in a wiring harness. Sorry I cant be more help, but you might watch for a dead battery starting soon.

Sounds like someone needs a battery............ these new trucks do some weird stuff when they need a batt.

Thanks guys. Will be on the lookout for the battery going dead. I am taking it up to Ford tomorrow anyway for a State Inspection so I will have them check it. I did notice the AMP gauge needle is dead center when driving...wouldn't it be more towards the + side for charging while driving?

UPDATE: went to Ford and the battery and alternator checked out good. So, still no clue as to what went down. Chalk it up to a fluke I guess...

You went to Ford and the battery and alternator both checked out good? You must still be under warrantee, they always check good under warrantee, when you're out of warrantee they tell you you need 'em both! The truck you had to pay for, the gremlins they tossed in free.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know it has happened to someone else and all seems fine. I won't worry too much about it. Thanks again.
