Power window help! '95 Taurus

hey guys. mom has a 1995 taurus and just recently her front passenger window stopped working. it works sometimes but then not others. i tried it and got it down, seemed to move like usual then wouldnt go back up. turned car on/off few times for a few minutes then eventually it went back up. the window operates fine so im guessing maybe a switch(es)? but anybodys help would be great. ive replaced window components on my truck before so id like to do this for her to save money from a shop. Thank you

It could be the window switch itself, or the motor.

1. Take the window switch out, and check the contacts against the ones in the how to on fixing LEDs. You might see some black on the contacts that need to be cleaned off. My switch did almost the same exact thing in my 2006.

2. It could be the motor ( I wouldn't think so ) but this would be the next thing to check if it is not the switch.

Those are my 2 SWAGs for the moment, but I can;t stress enough that is is more likely then not the switch needing cleaning or worst case, replacing.

Good luck, let us know what else you need.

I agree with Scully ( generally only a fool would disagree). I have repaired many a window switch, have yet to find one that I wasn't able to repair. (Yea, I know, my days 'a commin!) There are switches now that have electronic components in 'em that you probably can't repair, but my guess would be just dirty or burnt contacts. You should be able to take the switch apart and clean the contacts with some 4-000 steel wool or fine sandpaper (400-600grit). Good luck!

I would do both the driver's side and the passenger side.

The blackened contacts can be on either side, so best to do both.
