Exclamation Headlights 98-250

hey guys my headlights on the truck seemed to have stopped working. I have just recently bought this truck and they worked when i bought it and were coming and going for about a week and now I have nothing, except when i pull in the MFS for the brights.

The light switch **** seems to function properly, I checked continuity throught the terminals and it should work. My E-brake sensor seems to work properly. I checked all the fuses, however some fuse locations seem to be differnet than in the manual. I don't seem to get any voltage coming into the switch.

I am unsure of the location of the H/L relay it says nothing about it in the manual. I am guessing that it is probably the issue could somone point in the right direction?

thanks

You cannot find a HL Relay in the owners manual, because there is not one for normal headlamp operation.

Do you have DRLs or Autolamps ?

The Autolamp mode has a HL relay ( along with a parking lamp relay ), but that is only if you have an autolamp mode on the main headlamp switch.

If the low and high beams don't work, but the FTP mode does, it could be a problem with the MFS ( or the headlamp switch ).

Which fuses did you check ?

Engine compartment Fuse 8
Cab fuses 16, 26, and 28

I would assume Fuses #8 & #16 to be good, with FTP mode working.

When you say you are not getting voltage into the switch, where are you testing ? The Engine Compartment fuse #8 supplies the switch with power on the same circuit that feeds the FTP function in the MFS. This is a Dark Blue w/ Orange stripe wire at the main headlamp switch connector.

Sounds like you may have lost power to the DB/O wire at the main headlight switch.

It comes from the same splice that supplies the FTP circuit, but it sounds like yours has a wiring fault (open circuit).
