12V timer

I'm going to put in a LED rope light in my bed so when the cover is closed I can see inside.
My plan is to wire it in a w/a 12v timer.
I want the timer so if I for get to turn them off they turn themselves off.

Any ideas where I can find one?
Thanks in advance.

One thing you could look at is using the accy delay relay output for the switch to the coil on the relay powering the lights.

This has some limits with it, basically any time the radio or power windows could work, is when the lights could work ( key in run / accy postion, or after the key has been turned off, until the door is open ).

You could use an off delay relay with the power from the accy delay relay, in case you want to be able to use them for a short amount of time after opening the door.

Elk makes one that is focused on the home security market, but work work ( and is in the 30.00 range vs the JCK series from Square-D in the 100+ range ).
The Elk-960 is selectable for 0-60 seconds or 0-60 min for the off delay, and has 7A @ 30VDC for the contact rating.

Data sheet for the Elk-960 relay
right click save as :

Search google for elk off delay relay for places that sell them ( safemart.com seems to be a big distributor of theirs )

Let us know if you need some diagrams on this or if this is good enough for you.

Good luck
