Keyless entry pad works partially

The keypad on my 2000 Lariat has NOT accepted the 5 digit code in a couple of years. The interior lights do come on when the first digit is entered. the locks work when 1/2 is pressed followed by 7/8 & 9/0 simultaneously. The key fob works also. Is the keypad defective or could the computer module be malfunctioning?

If only the keypad is defective, can you purchase just the pad without the door handle? And, if that is the case, would anyone know the part number of the pad?

Have you tried the factory code ?

Could be a problem with a few of the keys. If you try the keys one at a time, do the keypad lights turn on ( you would have to open and close the door after each key pressed ).

You can get just the keypad

The keypad is the top box ( bottom is a door handle w/ keypad opening in YN silver )

Thanks SSCULLY and all the others on this forum. With advice from this site, I've saved 1,000s of $$$ over the 10 years I've owned this truck.

I had not thought about this as simply as the reply. The 3/4 key did NOT cut on the interior lights no matter how hard it was pressed.

Glad it was an easy one.

The keypad, I think, is somewhere around 120.00 at one of the online dealers + S/H. There are 2 that are supporters here, so take a look at them at least.

It is not hard at all to get the door handle out, a little more difficult on the SCrew doors.

I have pictures of a SCrew install in my interior album, if you need some pointers.

The NLOC site I think has the install directions for the std and SCab doors.

Good luck.
