Alarm with manual locks....

Should I just to ahead and convert over to power locks? How much would it be?

I'm looking to get an alarm because I'm putting a new system in my truck and I don't want it stolen. Actually, I don't want any of my other goodies to be stolen either.

Local shop wanted $200 just for the alarm and install, plus $100 for each window to convert to power windows.

If it is in fact a "true" conversion this is a good price. My experience with manual locks and alarms systems are that they had installed actuators that act like auto locks.

Once you use the remote, it will lock and unlock the doors. Be real weary of this. Find out if they are "converting" to automatic locks or just in fact putting actuators in the doors to operate the locks.

Well, apparently it was a new guy who quoted me. They don't do windows and it's $200 for the alarm install, plus $100 for power locks. They are actuators so I'm probably going to get the kit off ebay and do it myself. Then have the alarm installed.
