Trailer lights backup

I have a F-150 2008 that I would like to have some auxiliary backup lights on my trailer. The 7 pin has a place for this but it takes a brake box installation to make the 7 pin hot. There is a pig tail and relay that came with the truck. The pig tail should connect to the brake box and a 6 way gray wire connector.
Do I need to connect the brake box just to get backup lights

The trailer tow reversing circuit should be active from the factory, don't think that was a relay or fuse to add like the '00-'03s.

Watch the load limit specified in directions.

I Went and read the sticky at the top of the towing and hauling forum

https://www.f150online.com/forums/to...locations.html

The only relay I added to my 2006 is the battery charge relay.

Should work fine.
