Headlights staying on

I've had this issue happen only 3 times since I've had the new headlights put in just over a month ago.

With the headlight switch in the full off position the high beam dash light is on, but not at full brightness, the high beam activator on the turn signal is NOT on, but the high beam headlights are on. If I turn off the motor and remove the key my high beams stay on but not at full power. I found one time that if I jiggle the hazard light button on top of the steering column the lights went off. This doesn't seem to work anymore.

Went out to start the truck sunday and the battery was totally dead. I had last used the truck Sat night and when I parked it all the lights were off.

I don't think its a battery issue because I put in a new battery 3 weeks ago which is after the first time this problem happened.

Any ideas on what this may be or how to fix it?

If it turns out to be a major $$ repair I was wondering if it would be possible to wire up a relay/switch that I could turn on/off to cut off the headlights from the battery when the truck is not in use??

For now when the truck has to sit for more than 10 mintues I just disconnect the -'ve battery terminal.

1st Question, the bulbs you put in, are they stock type bulbs, or different aftermarket ?

I don't recall seeing this one, but with the description of the problem, and when you jiggled the hazard switch it stopped, I would put this on the MFS or connector in the steering column having an issue.

Wait and see if someone else offers up an option before checking into anything, especially with the cold air from Calgary coming your way this week.

They came with stock 9007 bulbs. Jiggling the hazard button no longer works. Got some advice to check the DRL module, it may be corroded or have moisture getting in. Hope its not the MFS cuz thats a $$ part/repair.

Well mystery solved. There was a 2 inch long crack across the whole face of the DRL module. My mechanic took it apart and showed me it was all corroded inside. He was surprised I didn't have any other issues until now. He guesses it was cracked for at least a year. So for a cost of ~$200 I now longer have to disconnect the battery everytime I park the truck.

I got a similar issue with my 95. At first I would turn the light switch on and off for the headlight to shut off. Now that isn't working any more and I too am resorting to disconnect my battery. Good insight to the DRL Module I will check it. Hope this works
