EATC on with no Key in ignition???

Problem Statement.
EATC lights on, Fan blows with ignition off.
Under hood clicking every 20 seconds or so from drivers side...near fuse box...
Any suggestions??? Battery drains of course.

Threads seem to point to ignition failure.
If it is gnition, do ignition keys also get replaced?

Had to ride the bike this AM. Calif feels like Illiniois!

Regards!

Sounds like you have a bad relay. try pulling the HVAC fuse/relay to see if it cuts the EATC off. then you have found your problem!

Exclamation Sscully

Hi...yes we had a couple of days of very heavy rain...

No ref. to the refugee gov nor to the other hard head...

In Chicago, used to ride Honda 450F, in winter, when my '68 TBird starter would fail. Too much snow to crawl under it and heck I was young...

I saw your posts.. pull the GEM and look for corrosion???

Thanks for your help and your time!

I would just start out with checking the carpet and floor board / firewall for signs of water damage.
Next would be using a mirror to try to see along the central junction box, but this is not an easy task.
If you want a quick test, use a hair dryer pointed up towards the Central junction box / GEM area behind the dash, if it drys out and starts working, you are looking at the fun of pulling the Central junction box / GEM combo, and then taking them apart.

We ride year round in Chicago still to this day. I got heated gear 2 years ago, and extended the temp down to 18* F for riding. Once of the guys I do coffee rides with in WI got rid of his car, he has 2 bikes, one is his snow / ice bike a Ural Sidecar.
Last years tax day ride ( notice the snow on the ground, it was a cold, long spring )

Matt making snow angels later in the day :

Saga continues...

SSCULLY nice rides! and what a set up!
Are you out by Bensonville? Grew up in Elmhurst off of York St. & North Ave. and listened to the takeoffs especially in summer!!!

Ok removing the 40 amp fuse does stop the electric fans / EATC from turning on!
That stops flow of power to the EATC thru the GEM... replacing 40 amp fuse problem returns.
Crawled next to brake pedal and didn't see evidence of water near the GEM/fuse box interface.... Though there is an intermittent clicking from above the panel....It is sounding like it is the GEM... water / corrosion creating intermittent contacts on other elec lines.

I tried a hair dryer for 5 min. at the beginning...no effect then I pulled the under hood 40 amp fuse...now I have the hair dyer propped against the brake pedal heating away...

Started truck, after 15 minute heating of GEM with 40 amp fuse in place...turned on EATC then off. Turned ignition key off and all is quiet...

Where and why is the friggin' winshield leaking FORD...no mods to that yet...

I'll be purchasing some electric contact cleaner.

Regards

I live in Bensenville, ring under a flight path.
Not too bad noise wise, Sunday afternoon is my bad day of the week, the remainder is pretty much quite, less weather reconfig's.

Yep, that sounds like a GEM problem to me. The leak is generally the lower left corner of the windshield. Only way to fix it is to have the windshield removed, and remounted. The lack of sealant in the lower left hand corner allow the rain to leak in, and down the fire wall.

Good luck, start with fixing the leak, before tackling the GEM cleaning.
