Factory Electrical System - Up to Upgrades?
Factory Electrical System - Up to Upgrades?
Hello All - I am trying to plan out my truck upgrades and I'm focusing on the electrical system. I have tried to calculate the electrical load. Now I just need advice as to whether the stock factory system will be able to handle it.
Upgrades:
Audio Amplifiers = 110 - 120 amps
Driving Lights = 10 amps (two lamps at 55W each divided by 13.8volts)
Fog Lights = 10 amps
Backup Lights = 10 amps
So a total of roughly 140 - 150 amps in addition to the regular draw.
Is the factory charging and supply system up to the job? Keep in mind that I will not be using all of these at the same time.
Any recommendations for upgrades?
I plan on doing replacing the wiring from the alternator and battery to a large size (big 3). I also considered upgrading to a higher amperage alternator, but I have read that it operates on the vehicle computer and getting an aftermarket alt to work isn't possible.
Thanks

110 amps continuous out of an amplifier? is that what it is fused at? or did you do the wattage/ voltage to get that?
i had a 600 watt amp in my jeep, and 4- 100 watt lights, 2 55 watt lights, and it did fine...
i'd assume you will be fine also
