Question 2005 F150 is dead and a ticking occurs rear of cab.

Hey all,

My truck just out of the sudden died while parked on my driveway overnight. Earlier today it worked fine, I listened to a little radio while cleaning my garage.

...now it just won't start.

Tried jumping it, but it won't take. I do notice a rapid ticking noise coming from my cab near the gas cap. Not sure what is going on. The ticking concerns me, but the lack of starting up with a jump concerns me more.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Specs:
2005 F150 Lariat
Crew Cab
5.4L
4x4

I think the only things back there are fuel pump (in tank) and body control module behind back seat, (s/crew) if you are hearing a ticking and have no start I would check fuel pump.
edit: might want to check inertia switch, I think it is in front passenger side kick panel, but if something is ticking I doubt thats it.

Good luck

Dead battery. You need to replace it. The ticking is the security system module located behind the back seat.

Wow, bluejay432000, your original post to your link you provided was dead-on with mine. That is pretty dangerous.

Guess I'll be heading to Sears for a new battery.

Thanks to both of you for you help!
