94 F150 won't start. Only hear a click noise

Got home tonight to go for a ride and put in some BG 44K in my recently acquired 1994 F-150. Arghhh. The truck wouldn't start and all I hear is a single click. The truck hadn't been driven for more than a couple of miles in any given day for the past 2 1/2 years. A quick look at the battery saw that it hadn't been replaced in 6 years. I replaced the battery and still have the single click. My next guess might be the solenoid but I won't be able to replace that until Saturday. If that does not do the trick, what should be my next step?

probably a corroded negitive battery cable, if it's crusty and blackish looking inside or has green inside it, thats your problem.

X2, I'm with 4play. If you have a new battery, but still getting clicks, the power is not getting to your starter, so I would replance the negative cable.

Well... this weekend I put in a new battery (850 CCA), new relay (some call it a solenoid and it actually says that on the box), and finally the starter. The starter had a corroded wire which could only be seen once removed.
End result: The starter was the item that was giving me problems.

As you may have already found out your was more than likely a bad spade terminal down on the starter solenoid. Your starter relay on the fender should be OK.
