How to turn off ABS and Parking brake??
How to turn off ABS and Parking brake??
I had to take off my ABS off due to my suspension. My ABS and Parking Brake light are now on in my instrument cluster. I took the cluster out and found no lights to be taking out. How do i get the lights off?
No question about it. Thats why I build dedicated trail/rock crawlers.
I had just never heard of a kit the required it to be removed. Not having ABS can be dangerous on the highway. Is your brand new F150 a trail only vehicle ? If not, I don't see the danger in having it. Especially if your talking high speed desert running. In the rocks, I can see not wanting any slippage, but in the desert, where your on flat ground, open sand, I don't see any reason to worry. Rocks are a little less forgiving. I wheel my junk in mud all the time. Its my tow rig, but it still gets out and plays, and I have never had an issue with my ABS. Its a much better system then they used in the past. It works good. Just something to think about. What kinda terrain you run ? How often ?

i was hoping someone would answer the question i asked and not give me advise on what they believe ABS is good for. I dont have a lift kit by the way. So if anyone could please advise in how to get this light off would be much appreciated. MercedesTech, are you star certified. I worked as a tech at benz in a past life.

Anyways, quickest and easiest way to turn lights off..... black electrical tape.
you can try asking this guy:

He might know more about it. Sorry man, I don't know of anyway to "turn the light off" with out fixing the problem. You can pull the bulb. I have never taken apart a F150's dash, so would know where to start, but the above guys would, I am sure.
Oh, and no, not star cert. My old man is. But now he owns his own shop. I work here, and open it to off road junk after hours and over the weekend. Try an build competitive crawlers and rock racers.
Thanks for the info. I took the dast apart and found it weird to not have individual lights, its almost like there is just one light for a section of the cluster. I just cut out little circles of elec tape and sprayed them flat black before i put them over the lights. I really cant tell unless i study it but it just bugs me.

i believe there is an "ABS Valves" fuse that can be taken out to disable it, as far as being able to turn the lift off on the dash you could try getting some one who customs tunes your truck to do it...
Where you got these 2 pieces of information at ?
1- the ABS valves its located in the trucks owner manual and you can just remove the fuse my ignition fuse went out (disabling my truck in the middle of a busy street one day and after a couple hundred dollar tow i was able to put the ABS valve fuse in its place and make the 100mile drive back home from my uncles)
2-due to having it out the ABS light was displayed. in the past i ordered custom tuning for a 2002 7.3L PSD i giving extra little programs in my programing that would not make my vehicle throw codes to set off the "service engine light" so i assumed that any one with knowledge of custom tuning would be able to do that as well...
hope that answered your question

1. While that disables the valve, the ABS pump is still running, that would be F112, and the ABS control module is still operational with F14 in ( which is the wheel speed to CAN bus interface to the module communications network ).
This alone would not disable the ABS reporting.
2. A custom tune is for the PCM, not the instrument cluster.
The 2004-2008 the ABS module, the Instrument cluster and the PCM are on both the CAN bus and UBP bus, this means any to any communication with all 3.
