12 V switch wire?
12 V switch wire?
Im looking for a 12 V wire that is only hot when the ignition is on. I need to run it back to my amp. It seems that all the wires behind the radio are hot all the time.
Thanks,
Matt

How about a model year, trim level, and cab type to go with that question ?
Either that, or complete your profile.
Depending on the MY truck, the accessory delay runs the radio, but this would show hot until you open the door, or until the time runs out on the Accy Delay relay coil trigger. At the very least there needs to be a hot in run / accy position on the radio, else it would be able to stay on at any time.

if this is to power your amp then the proper and really the only way is to go directly to the battery.
edit: youll probably have better luck in the amplifier section.
ok im sorry i should have been more specific. I have an 05 screw cab.
I have the power wire ran from my battery to the amp, but i have a stock head unit so i am using a high low converter to control my amp from the stock HU. I just need a 12 v switch wire to tell my amp to turn on and off with the ignition. This wire is not actually powering my amp.

The accsy delay wire to the back of the radio is the light green w/ yellow stripe wire. This is the circuit from F22.
Obviously do not try to use this to power the amp, this would be either for a + trigger to the amp, or used with to power the coil on a relay to the AMP.
Got me who your amp works, no info posted on that in this thread.
