Cruise control doesn't work

I recently bought this truck which is a 1981 F-150 Ranger, and the cruise control doesn't engage. I checked all the fuses and they are all OK. Any other reason why the cruise control doesn't work?

Could be quite a few things, the contacts under the steering wheel, the switches themselves or most likely, the vacuum dump switch on the brake pedal is either leaking or not adjusted properly.

Thanks for the response. It is mind boggling, so I will take it to the Ford house and have them analyze and fix it. I don't do electrical very well. I do appreciate your response though.
