Power locks actuating when starting motor
Howdy folks. A question for you. When turning over my 2003 F-150 4.2L V6
(first thing in the a.m.) my locks seem to actuate with the peak current draw. Today they actually locked several times as it cranked and started.
The static battery voltage is 12.5 vdc, when it starts the battery reads about 14.2 vdc. The truck is very reliable and does start every time. Is this just a precursor of battery failure? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Have the battery load tested. You can do this by turning on the headlights (and everything else possible) while monitoring the battery voltage and seeing if it drops by more than a few tenths over several minutes.
If it's the original battery, just replace it.
Sounds like the voltage is sagging too much during the starter draw and is confusing the electronics that control the auto-locks.
