Battery life
Battery life
Battery life depends on many factors. Weather conditions, number of times that the engine is cycled(# of starts and stops), condition of the charging system etc. I would think that you should start thinking about replacement soon. Replace with the largest and the most powerful battery that will fit (number of cold cranking amps) in the vehicle. As far as brand, I would go with a Motorcraft, Optima or Interstate. Sears do not die hard, they die easy. Hope this helps
I had planned on replacing my OEM battery in October when it would be 4 years old. It did not make it. Quit dead on me last week, left me stranded with absolutely no warning.

04 FX4 64k miles and the battery hates rain or being parked on dirt, it wont start well in moisture. A jump here and there and a decent drive brings it back to life but the moment it gets rain (under an hour) or sits on dirt (overnight) and I need a jump again. This all started when I jumped a big desil. The battery has been killed by the stereo several times as well. I know, I abused it.
Has anybody ever put in a marine battery (deep cycle)? The cranking amps match up well, the stock is 650 and the marine is 700 @ 32 F. I have to check if it will physically fit. I was thinking about it so I could listen to the radio with the truck off, longer than 20 minutes. I have a couple of amps for the stereo. Has anybody done this? Can it be done?
