battery meter low - urgent
Hi,
I am about 200 miles from home and just before stopping at the motel I noticed that my battery guage is showing very low just above the red range on my 95 f150. It normally runs in the center. What I am trying to find out is do you guys think that I might be able to drive if the 200 miles home tommorow so that I can have my own mechanic look at it or should I look for a mechanic where I am. Will the truck stop if the battery gets too low? Am also worried what my alarm might do if it gets to low. Need to get home asap as I have tons of stuff to get done once I get there. I just put a new battery in it about 3 months ago because it wouldn't hold a charge. Thanks in advance for any help, Jeff.

The answer to the truck stopping- yes it will if the battery is completely drained- although it will be gradual- it won't just stop suddenly, from running great. If you do what I've said you will probably make it, but no getting stuck in traffic. Good Luck!
A FULLY charged battery is NOT going to make it 200 miles, sorry.
Fuel pump, injectors, and the other necessary loads will drain a battery in less than an hour or so under most conditions. I've found this out the hard way on several Fords.
Get it fixed before hitting the road if you want to make it without problems.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think that this sounds like an alternator problem? I'm planning on going to kragens when they open and buying an alternator and putting it on in the parking lot. Does this sound like a reasonable shot in the dark plan? Thanks again, Jeff.
