Angry Lose charging while driving. Sometimes can restart, sometimes cant

I have a 2002 Blackwood. While driving it appears the alternator stops charging; Voltage guage steadily goes to L, ABS light comes on, chk susp light comes on, radio will turn off and on. If I do not stop and kill the engine it will drain my battery dead. Sometimes restarting will clear it up, sometimes it won't. I dont think its loose wires because just sitting still it will do this on and off. Alternator is about a year old so i don't think it's that. I'm sitting stranded on the side of the road as I type this with the battery disconnected in hopes I can get it to act right long enough to get home! Any ideas?????

Test the alternator and check the belt.
Might be smart to have the battery replaced while you're at it.
Hope you got home ok.

Well it was a flakey alternator. Odd that it worked fine 90% of the time then all of a sudden crap out completely only to return to normal again later! I replaced the alternator with a lifetime guaranteed unit from Autozone less than a year ago so I wasn't suspecting it. I guess lifetime guaranty means you will be replacing these for a lifetime!

Autozone used to be known for having crap alternators. I generally recommend getting electrical parts from Napa.
