Anyone know what these are

I was installing a Electronic Brake Controller on my 2004 Ford F150 and when i was under the dash,,i noticed these things under the Dash that i never seen before...Here are the pics..

First one is a Black Box with electrical Tape Around it with some code on the side...

Second one is like a Little Toggle Switch or something..

Did you buy the truck new? Looks to me like the remains of an alarm system that has been removed. The last several new vehicles I have bought have had the after market alarm system on them that i choose not to purchase. When you tell them you don't want it they just have the lot help unplug the "brain" and leave the rest of the stuff there. They can't sell the unit they take out anyway and it would simply cost them money to take it out meaning a further loss so they just leave it. Different dealers may take a little more out but most of the time the only thing gone is the "brain" because it's no good to you then anyway.

That looks like the option switch for a remote start ( the push button switch ) and the black box is a PATS bypass module for the remote start.

Do you have remote start ( silver or gold level ) on the truck ?
