Factory remote start/security/locks
Factory remote start/security/locks
Hello people! I am new to the world of Ford, and to the forum, and have a question regarding my remote start/alarm/lock system.
My truck is a 2006 King Ranch, F150, and it came from a dealer with the factory remote start/entry system from new. The remote is a 4 button, and it locks/unlocks fine. The dealer and I changed the lock code, but I can't get the thing to remote start for some reason. He said it started for him once when he tried it, but since the truck was new to the dealer as well, he really didn't have time to play with it much. When I press the start button on the remote, the park lights flash once, and that's it. Since the truck arrived and went into their shop for inspection the next day after arrival, I wonder if the mechanic never put the remote start into the safety mode, and never put it back. I know there is a mode remote start safety mode (there's a decal under the hood about it), but not sure how to check or get it back to normal, and ideas?

See if the instructions are in with the owners manual
You need to press the lock button, then the key button within 3 seconds to start the truck ( assuming the RMST is installed correctly with the PATS bypass module ).
If it is the Silver remote start, here are the directions from Gemsen ( the OEM place that supported the remote starts for Ford ). It will show this as well as the other features on the RMST system ( quick stop, etc ).
Right click, save as :
http://www.gemsen.com/ford/Pdf/10182...wners_RevB.pdf
If someone has been playing with it, and it does not work straight away, check the section in the manual, on service mode I think it is called ( the remote start is shut off with a key and button combo ).
Good luck

I got it, thanks for the input sscully.
The local dealer showed me the trick, as you said, press the lock button, then the start and away it goes. Just couldn't find anything in my manual about the remote starting. One thing I would like to do, is when it goes to start, the horn beeps...and at 5 AM , not really desired when everyone else is still trying to sleep. Will see if I can cure that part, but otherwise, all is good!
