I have seen factory batteries last 10 years, mine lasted almost 9 years, the factory batteries are good compared to others.

Josh- That was then, this is now. The factory batteries they're putting in now are not gonna do that, probably never again.

Well this morning the voltage was 12.28 from 12.34 last time I checked at 10pm. Paralyzer is this too much loss for that short of time period? Could it be the another bad battery or is it most likely the truck? I am going to get another battery on my way to work and it that doesnt solve it hook up the DVM to read draw tonight. I have everything I need.

Paralyzer or anyone,
Help me read my multimeter, I am a newbie. The workshop manual says there should be less than 0.1v drop between the generator housing and negative battery cable.

According to my meter my drop is much less than 0.1v and this test passed, correct?

Since the first number after the . is 0 that what makes it much less correct?

Less correct??? What are you asking? The drop is very acceptable.

Nevermind I meant to say since the first number after the . is 0 that what makes my voltage drop of 0.017 acceptable.

Hey guys I am attempting to test draw but when I remove the jumper cable the number goes off the range in the mA scale and I cannot get a reading on the A scale setting. To get the meter to switch to the A scale I have to connect the positive lead to the 10amp unfused circuit on the meter.

I have this meter. I am thinking it is a POS.

OK i can only get a reading on mA setting. It jumps around alot but I see it saying 13.18mA to 30mA most of the time. When I try to get a reading thru the 10A unfused port of my meter I get no reading at all. What is the deal with this? What am I doing wrong? Is it the meter? I have a small jumper cable between the battery post and the negative cable of the truck like Jack suggested. What I did was just shut the truck down, disconnect the negative cable from the battery post, installed a small terminal on the post and connect a small jumper wire between the terminal and the negative cable of the truck. I verified before I let the truck go to sleep that it had power by opening the doors and turning the lights on for a second. Then I let the truck sit for about a hour, turned the meter on and disconnected the jumper wire from the negative cable of the truck. I had the meters alligator clips on the battery post terminal and negative cable of the truck the whole time.

Does this sound right? What am I doing wrong? I think the meter might be ******** up. Let me know what yall think.
