Is this setup possible?
I hope that I'm not bringing up something that has been beat a million times. I have an 06 XLT F150. I am adding a set of fog lights to my brush guard. The question I have is this- on the lower part of my dash, there is a bank of 5 small switches in a row. The left one is the AC, can't remember what the middle one is, and the right one is the heated mirrors. The 2nd and 4th ones are blanks. Is it possible to replace this bank, or one of the blanks, so that I can put a factory switch there? I know the lariats and fx4 have all 5 in use, I think. Is this possible? If so, How much replacing do I have to do and what would be a source/cost for that? Thanks in advance for any help!
Not familiar with the 06...but that's exactly the way I've done previous vehicle add-ons. And it's not hard at all. The thing you need to know is do you need a relay to handle the current of the lights? In other words (if you don't understand)....do the lights draw more current than the rated amperage of the switch...if so, then you need to put a relay in between such that the switch controls the coil of the relay and they contacts on the relay take the current from the lights....that way the switch doesn't get hot...or even smoke!
Electrical parts run on smoke....let out the smoke...and it don't work anymore!
I just wish my 2000 had blanks available!
