'98 F150 Truck loses Electrical Power

First off I want to say this board is great and I have lurked on these boards for awhile and have found great information.

I am hoping someone could point me in the right direction concerning some issues I am having with my truck.

Yesterday while driving on the highway the electrical power died in my truck. My air condition slowly shut down over the course of about 30 seconds. The gauges all turned off, signals stopped working and even my hazard lights would not turn on.

The engine continued to run for about 5 more minutes. Then all of a sudden the power kicked back in when the AC turned on and my signals started blinking with the gauges coming back on. Then the engine just died.

I tried to start the engine but it just made a quick "Clicking" sound when I turned the ignition.

I jumped the truck and it started right away and was able to drive home.

I removed the cables and cleaned them and made sure they had a good connection and was able to start my truck.

I waited a little while then tried to start my truck again but its back to just making the "clicking" sound and not starting.

This is a 1998 F150 manual transmission truck.

The battery is 4 months old and I replaced the alternator about 3 months ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Either:

Your battery died because it was not being charged by the alternator. Charge the battery with a charger, then diagnose the charging circuit.

or

You have a bad battery cable or connection.
