Security system question

Can someone tell me what the red flashing light on the dash is for. I cant seem to get a straight answer. I know i dont have an actual alarm system in my truck, so i assume it has something to do with the chip in the key. Thanks

Do you have a keyless entry? If so, as far as I know the light just indicates that the security system (rather it be factory or not), is armed. I have an older F150 so I dont have the light, but my brother and dad have 06 F150's and the only time I have noticed their lights is when their trucks are locked and armed.

The theft light is used to indicate any faults in the Passive Anti Theft System. It is also a visual deterrent to potential thieves. So yes it has to do with the chip in the key. The controls and features section of your owners manual will explain in more detail.
