check right in front of the master cylinder. see the plug (probably has a red top) that goes in there? is there a fuse anywhere near that plug?

if there is a fuse there and its blown then frame it, that tiny fuse just saved your truck's life.

Did you try the key on diagnostic test yet? If not, it's talked about here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...e+3+deals+with

The recall harness is there solely to keep your truck from going up in smoke.

The switch may have failed open or it may have leaked and blown the fuse link in the harness.

Check it first, common problem.

fix to cruise control

The switch died. It was open without brakes and with brakes. Switch also had fluid in the top of it.

Bought new switch at NAPA. Now I'm cruising.

There ya go.

Happen to have the NAPA part number and price handy?

my situation

My cruise recently died too and I had recall harnass installed a few months ago. I checked the fuse in the harnass and it was blown. The plug going into the master cylinder was soaked with brake fuid too. Anyway, I went to Ford and replaced the switch which came with a harnass. I noticed that the new switch and harnass doesn't have a fuse. Is this safe? I figured that it would be safe because Ford SHOULD know better to sell another replacement part that could catch fire. Any input or ideas??

The harness contains a fuse link, not a user-serviceable fuse.

I take the "user serviceable" fue would be the one that burned up because when I removed it it was clearly burned up. It is the one they installed in the recall though because on the old harnass it stated that it was not serviceable. The new part that I put on doesn't say anything abotu not being serviceable and doesn't have a visible fuse like th eold one in the recall. Im lost.
