Gauge Clusters

Will a Lariat gauge cluster work in an XLT? Basically wondering if it would be plug n play or if additional work would need to be done.

The cluster itself is a direct swap in and out however you'll need your mileage and your pats reprogrammed by the dealer if they're present in your truck. I've heard dealers charging betweent 250 and 350 for this and some dealers just telling people it can't be done. YMMV though.

IF either your vehicle or the one the cluster came out of has the factory PATS system, then you're at the dealer to get it done.

My dealer was one that said it can't be done. My Luxury Package FX4 came with the Lariat computer buttons next to the steering wheel. Before I even took delivery they ordered the replacement part and they're basically demanding that I bring in the truck to have it swapped. I asked about swapping the cluster instead and they said it was impossible. Is it kosher to tell the dealer that you know better than they do?

I'm going to shop around some and decide what to do, the buttons do nothing (literally) so I don't mind them being there... But it's one less piece I need to buy if I decide to do the swap.

If you have the Lariat cluster, and the cluster works, why wouldn't the Lariat part work? It is all programmed obviously...
