I need to connect a power cable directly to the battery in my 2000 F-150 Extended Cab - I understand that there is a grommet somewhere on the firewall for this purpose. Does anyone know where a picture is of this path?

you can always drill your own hole. ive seen grommet packs at autozone.

 

Indeed, on the firewall, right next to the brake booster. you'll see it. My gallery on the *other* site is down at the moment, otherwise I'd post it here...
