Mark VIII Fan Install

I plan on doing the Mark VIII cooling fan install, for the ones who have done this, is it more or less a matter of getting the fan and a DC Controller?

PM lenore. he did it and i plan on it in a couple of weeks. i think he used an FK35 controller and a fan out of the junkyard. you'll have to fab up some mounting brackets, but other than that, it's supposed to be a great setup and costs less than half of the other kits out there.

Thanks, but it wont let me yet. Really, I guess what I'm looking for is to know which kit to get from dccontrol.

Anyone know if we could just use a Crown Vic fan instead of a Mark VIII?

Basically the same fan....really the Mark 8 is almost overkill. You only need low speed, high speed would be for almost an insufficent cooling system.

$25 at my local junkyard for a 4300 CFM fan + $130 for a controller = way less cash than a troyers or jusnes kit. i'll take overkill before reliability problems anyday.

I spent $80 for my 16" 2500CFM each fans and built my own controller out of relays for about $20. Not bad either huh?

Not bad at all. Either way much better than the over priced stuff from the other guys. Anyone know which DC Controller to use?

until the cheapo fan motor gives out, the radiator mount kit pulls through the fins, or one of your relays takes a hit from too many high amperage on/off cycles.

i'm not trying to start a pissing match over this, but the mark viii fan uses a siemens fan built to OEM spec and the DC Controller utilizes a soft-start feature that protects it and the fan. some people get away with auto part store setups, but i'm not taking the chance. for +- $150, the mark viii fan/DC Controller setup is affordable AND reliable.

The FK35 is a perfect controller for that application, As for the kits at DC controls dont buy the fan, go to your local u pull it and get one out of a Lincoln Mark VIII, Or 96 or newer Thunderbird with a V-8 engine. The Fan is 18 inches and has a square shroud which is easily adaptable to our trucks. I made brackets, see my photos under e fans. look at them closely you will see the upper brackets I made. I am thinking of making a bracket kit and selling to folks....still thinking about it. sell them for a reasonable price and folks could have their kit for well under $200...for everything. Half the price of some of the kits out there
here is the site again:

Please put me on top of that list. Your install is clean. I would be interested in buying that kit from you

I'm not trying to be pissy either but my fans aren't cheapo, and neither are my relays. Relays are heavy duty ones MOPAR from the local dealership and the fans are procomp fans. A brand I found to be fairly common. I would have loved to do the mark 8 fan install as well but no one around me has them and I'm not into this waiting game for the DCControllers.

The later years 95 and up Ford Thunderbirds also have the same fan 18 inch that the Mark VIII had. I found 7 of them in my local u pull it....As for the controller he had it to me in 3 days....
