Remote Start install, door pins?
Remote Start install, door pins?
I purchased an Autostart AS-2451TW-FM and plan to install it myself in my 04 FX4.....I only plan to use it as a starter and have no interest in an alarm...My question is, Do I need to connect the door pin wires?....I'm guessing they are only connected for alarm function and won't be necessary in my application. Any help appreciated...Thanks
Not sure if this info is necessary but the truck is a supercrew with remote keyless entry and a keypad. No factory alarm.

have you ever installed rs before not trying to be rude but this is not a good begginer vehicle to do. No you do not need to hook up door triggers unless it is standard transmission. what type of bypass are you using? if you have any questions message me and i'll try and help you out
The XK04 by Direct Electronics....It is my first starter, however I have a fair amount of experience with auto electronics (stereos, trailers, lights, relays)...I appreciate the offer for help...we'll see how it goes
the xk is a good bypass can be tricky to program follow direction word for word to program if you have keypad make sure you do arm disarm go to autostart.ca then downloads then vehicle wiring enter serial number on back of rs that will get you diagram for truck make sure you cut the yellow loop on rs before you plug in if it is not a standard or you will have problems programing. Take your time verify all circuit with multimeter only you can do serious damage if you grab wrong wire. air bag harness is right next to harness that you connect xk into horn wire is in same plug as air bag be careful if you are going to do horn honk. if you have any ? let me know. Verify all circuits with multimeter. I can't stress this enough solder all conections. take your time you can do it i will try and help when possible might take me some time to ghet back to you but autostart has good diagrams and some pictures click on symbol at end of line and will show pics
HMMM.....now you have me scratching my head.....can you elaborate on the arm/disarm for keypad....i was planning to skip those as well because I don't have an alarm
And yes it's an Automatic so i'll be clipping the yellow loop wire

do you have keypad on truck if so you will see on diagram you need to pulse two wires for arm and diode isolate the arm wire on rs is white/brown and disarm is white/green if you have ? i will pm my number and you can call me and i can try and talk you through it get wiring diagram and see if it makes sense then i can clarify from their for you

Installed the Starter today and all good so far, except...I can't find the lock and unlock wires that are suppose to be in the drivers side kick panel.....I can't seem to find them....any ideas????
you probably don't want to hear this but you should have let me know we could have met i could show you which wire are the right ones and gave your install a ounce over just to be sure you got all the wires you needed send me your email i will send you install sheet
I followed your instructions and got my own sheet from Autostart....I'm gonna go on another hunt for those two wires...By the way, I had a conversation with an EPS member while I was in the City of Champions and he mentioned the theft problems with Ford Trucks and he seemed to think F150's where susceptible. I was of the opinion that the Ford anti-theft keys would prevent theft of my truck...I posted another thread about using the starter kill on the remote start...I'm interested to know your thoughts....Can a thieve steal my truck as is, or should I hook up the starter kill?
PS.....about the multimeter, probe with the negative makes sense, but what do i connect the positive probe to.....I'm guessing a 12v source?

the multimeter positive probe goes to 12 volts source i use red wire of rs it is battery power the sheets i have are from a program i purchase every year has better pics and diagrams shows them in drivers running board. I think the fords he is talking about is the superduty no chipped key you could hook up starter kill i don't like to hook up. If your remote fails or you lose it you have to remember how to disarm or truck won't start even with key. if your worried upgrade to 6850 is the 2 way starter alarm it uses the same harnesses only door triggers are very tricky in this truck not for a begginer i hate doing them and ive been doing starters on the side for 12 plus years. Its is the one i have in my own truck. Only reason i have is to protect stereo and tools i carry in truck
