2004 airbag

I have a 2004 F-150 Super cab FX4. When I start the truck, the air bag light blinks once, goes out, then blinks eight more times. It does this twice, and then stays on. Any idea what the code is, how to fix it, and how much it will cost?

Air bag fault code 18 is for the P.A.D. system(passenger air bag deactivation system)It has detected a fault in the circuit. It could be as simple as a loose connector at the RCM(restraint control module) under the seat or a short in the circuit. A dealer would probably charge about $80.00 to check the system . But sometimes a loose connextore under the seat is all that the problem is. I would try that first make sure that it is on tight. Most times caused by people when they vacuumn their interior or carpet shampooing or seat removal.

I checked all the plugs I could find under the seat. there were for or five of them. they all seemed to be tight, is there anything else I can check, or does it have to go to the dealer?

Unless you have a factory service manual, there are certain safety procedured you have to follow I would take it to the dealer. They will possibly charge you up to $80.00 to check the system but at least they will probably get it fixed without problems. Bob
