no power

I have a 97 f150. Two times in the past month I turn the key and I have no power at all. No lights, radio, etc..I check the wires going to the battery and they seem fine. 30 to 60 seconds later I have power again. My truck does have a factory alarm system. Could it be a kill switch? I also put in a new battery about a month and a half ago.

Bad battery cable or connection, most likely. Possibly the ignition switch. Depends - check the headlights the next time it fails. if they work, then that indicates an ignition switch (or switched circuit) problem. If they don't, then it's a cable or connction failure.

It is not the alarm system nor is it a kill switch, neither work that way.

Thanks, I'll check both of the cables.
