Stolen instrument panel

I have a '95 F150 that was on a lot under consignment. While it was there, the instrument panel was removed, and I'm nearly certain that it was exchanged with one in another truck that was recently sold off the lot. The owner of the lot told me that the one that was sold didn't have a working odometer when it came in. Now among other problems and evidence of the switch, the odometer in my truck does not work. It's a digital LCD and is completely blank.

Is the mileage information that's displayed on the odometer stored anywhere else in the vehicle besides the instrument cluster? I'm looking for a way to PROVE that not only is the instrument cluster currently in my truck the wrong one, but also, the vehicle I suspect it's in is indeed where it ended up.

Thanks for any advice to a newbie here. Another member I know from another bulletin board told me about this one.

P.S. The '95's for sale because I bought a brand new '07!!!!

It's a moot point now. After a week of investigation, I managed to find the stolen instrument cluster in another F150. Mileage matches, tach bulb burned out, and it was sold off the lot where my truck was under consignment.
