interior lights
well i was cleaning the inside of my truck out this evening and once it got dark i noticed that all of the lights for the auto-windows don't light up only the rear passengers (on the drivers control) lights up. Is this normal? I've never really payed too close of attention to it before..... its an 04' screw XLT....
anyone out there ever pay attention to this?

I havent payed attention to the other doors, but on my drivers door only the rear passenger window switch lights up, and the rest of the switches on the drivers door (including locks, other windows, power mirror) have no lights. It is kind of annoying when it is dark, but its too cold out to take a look at it right now in Saskatchewan.

however, i think what you are saying is that on the driver door, with all four power window switchs, only the rear switches are lighting up, not the fronts or door lock.
this is a common occurence in F150 in the old and new body style. every power window switch, and power door lock should light up. both the up and down arrows, and the lock and unlock on the power lock. the only way it wont light up is if you lock out the windows. in saying thay, all 5 switches (4 window and power lock) on the driver door should ALWAYS be on, because u can not lock them out.

you can go two routes to fix/resolve this, 1: go to dealership and buy the whole new switch, this could get quite costly.
2. get a whole bunch of LED's and sit down one night and take the whole thing apart, unsolder the burnt out LED's and solder in new ones. heres the problem with doing that, you cant just replace the burnt out ones because they have a different shade, so if you do it you will have to do every LED to make it look decent.
the LED's on the board are the smallest LED ive ever seen and its a real b*tch to get them off without ruining the traces on the board so good luck. get a new solder tip and file it to a real fine point.
the LED's you take out are probably 1 mm * 1mm * 1mm, but i replaced them with standard 5 mm LEDs and they clear everything nessary once you cut the probes down.
and if you do attempt this, the LEDs are polarity sensitive and youll probably end up taking a few off and switching them around once you screw up. this is hard to do because the 4 window switchs are parallel, with the 2 LED's per switch in series, so if you put one backwards neither will work for the switch.
this is long enough so ill end it off, sorry for the novel. it probably took me close to 5 or 6 hours to do all my LED's. it does look good though.
Did you check the polarity on the LED before installing it ?

Yes I checked the polarity. They operate well using a 2v supply. I'll recheck everything just to make sure. My master switch and my 4WD switch light up perfectly and the same switches that didn't work before I started this project are the same ones that don't work now. Anymore ideas while I recheck everything?
Maybe I should have asked, did you check the illumination power to the switches, prior to ordering ?
04+ it is the light green w/ yellow stripe wire, and the black wire.
Driver's side, if I am looking at it correctly, pin #5, and Pin#4, this is connector C505.
From the 97 & '00 EVTM ( should be the same colors, if nothing else up to '03 ) the illumination circuit is light blue w/ Red stripe and black. Pin # 5 & pin #1.
Watch that you are using the correct black, there are 3 of them to the switch.
Pin#s 1,2 & 7. 2&7 are the ground for the lock actuators.
Sorry, don't see any note ( straight away ) in the thread where you already did this.
