remote starter

Hi..I bought my 2006 F150 Screw gently used...it came with a "Code Alarm" remote Starter.....it did not come with "Factory" key fobs.....my question is? If I get some factory fobs can I still use them as well as the aftermarket "starter"....my Keys will have the remote starter and my wifes keys would have the "Factory" fob...

What you could do also... on the back of the remote for the Code Alarm should be an 800 number, if you call that number and either give them the info on the remote, or the Code's model number (usually located on the alarm brain just look under the dash and follow the non-aftermarket wires to find the brain ) you could order a new Code Alarm remote.

Depends if RKE was ordered as a factory option.

You can try the procedure in the manual to see if it will enter programming mode for additional RKE fobs ( actually it erases all the fobs when you enter programming mode, so you need all that you want to work when you do this ).

If the truck has the confirmation for RKE fob programming, then yes you can use the Ford RKE fobs along with the Code Alarm fobs.

I have the Ford Silver Remote start, and the receiver for this has no impact on the BSM / VSM with RKE.

Take a look at the programming, if it enters, you can order them online from a few places, so you do not need to pay dealer tag for them.

First thing you should have done was make whomever pay for factory key fobs because it's the right thing to do for resale down the road or if you ever remove the remote starter/alarm you have now but to answer your question...No.
I had a remote starter/alarm installed in my 2004 F150 and just to do simple lock and unlock the doors I can use the factory fobs but if I use the remote starter/alarm fobs and then use the factory fobs the alarm will go off.
So if you use the starter fob first you will have a problem with a factory fob setting the alarm off.
Best to get more code alarm fobs.

Actually, if you both press unlock, the door will unlock. Might not catch the unlock confirm beep, if they are pressed very close together.

The CA fob uses an external receiver, that is wired in, the factory fob uses the BSM/VSM.

The confusing part would be if you pressed unlock, and she pressed lock at the same time. locks might act a bit goofy, so don't try that ( trying to put the all doors unlock relay in line with the all doors lock relay at the same time..could blow a fuse ?? never tried it ).

As for "normal" operation, no problems. You can even press unlock at the same time as your wife without problem ( both trying to use the all doors unlock relay at the same time ).

See Travis at KCAuto or one of the remote fobs web sites to get additional fobs if you want them.
The CA site would have the directions on programming additional CA fobs ( not the same as the manual ), and your owners manual has directions on programming RKE fobs. I have 4 fobs total for my truck, 2 CA-Ford Silver fobs, and 2 Ford RKE fobs.

When you use the Remote Starter Fob to lock the doors does it turn on the alarm?
If so as long as you leave it unlocked for her there shouldnt be any problems.
