1.38amp drain=dead battery in 24hrs
My 1991 f150, 302 v8 has developed a strange 1.38 amp current when the ignition is turned off. After hours of patient searching I have noticed that when I "actuate" the current, or attatch the battery cable that something under or near the throttle body "clicks". So far I have unplugged the fuel pump relay (it was replaced about a month ago but because it also makes sound when the power is applied I disconnected it) in an attempt to isolate the offending relay or solinoid. I know its in there somewhere, I can hear it, and feel it open and close when the power is applied. But I have no idea what I am looking for exactly and I swear it has legs! Please, somebody stop the bleeding!
You probably have a shorted relay or an ingition switch that isn't turning off.
With your ammeter in circuit and a battery charger connected, start pulling fuses and/or relevent connectors and see if the draw goes away. This can isolate the circuit that is drawing the power.

When dealing with electrical problems, always get a schematic. Go to ALLDATA.com and pay the 14.95; you will save yourself a severe migraine. The schematic will help you diagnose the component that is making the clicking sound and tell you what devices are downstream of each fuse.
