solenoid/starter help

Went to start truck, this morning... "click". Battery checks out. No prior starter issues, replaced solenoid on firewall. Neither the old solenoid or the new is getting any juice (screwdriver jump). Guessing there must be an electrical issue prior to the solenoid, but all terminals are clean, wires look good, accessories are working....

any suggestions?
thnx

When you mention screwdriver jump - does this mean the starter engaged, or it didn't?

If it did - perhaps the neutral switch or ignition switch block (don't know if you have a manual or auto tranny).

If it didn't, suggest that the battery cable to the solenoid has a problem. Have seen these corrode inside the insulation where the failure was not visible.

95 - standard trans. 2wd.

The starter never made a sound with the screwdriver jump. Solenoid never sparked either. 50 bucks says you're right on with the wire corrosion from the battery. Guess I'll go and buy a tester... Thanks.

Corrosion is a pain in the ****, dielectric grease the bejesus out of any area that will corrode and you'll be quite impressed.
