Ok this is gonna make me seem dumb, but i was wondering what the button to the right of the cigarette lighter is.......On my last FX4 I just had a cigarette lighter centered and now my new truck has this button

What does it do

hazard lights?

 

my father and I have the same question, we've been driving down the road pressing it off and on trying to figure out what it does. And it's not the hazard lights, those are on the steering column.

His '06 chrome package XLT has it, but my '05 STX does not. It can't be too important

 

it is the button to turn off your reverse sensor

 

Its for your reverse parking sensors. It should turn them on or off. I dont have them so i dont know exactly how they work but my friend has them and i know thats the button is for.

 

oh man, thats not nearly as exciting as i could of been.......I was hoping it would of been to something cool

 

If your backing up with your tailgate down or are trying to back up to a trailer you use the button to disengage your reverse sensor "beep".

 

no kidding, an ejection seat would have been cool...


but i'm sure pressing it while going down the road with your dad could have had some rough outcomes.....
