Exclamation F150 xlt yr 2000 Keyless entry must be replaced

How much trouble will I get into. I have to replace the keyless entry pad. I am going in to replace the actuators and well, thought I better fix the replace the keypad, but can not find anyone to give me good information.

This is my only ride and well, I have to make sure I can get it back together so I can take care of business.

These are my questions...

Is the handle and the keypad one unit or two?

With the new keypad will I have to reprogram my entry code?

With a 2000 f150 xlt is the programming the same and location of the box the same?

Any help is appreciated....

If you wonder if I know for a fact the keyless entry has to be replace.... I don't! without testing what else it could be. But my bet is that the keys are stuck or that water entered the unit or if there is an angel on my shoulder that the wire has just slipped off. The ford guy said he could check it out for 190....But with Christmas coming, I am not afraid to break a nail to save money.

The code is in the box under the dash not the key pad is my guess, for each truck has it's own code. You will have too look it up but I think the key pad is one unit and the door handle a unit.

The handle and keys are one unit and you don't have to program the keypad. It sounds more like you have a problem with the 'Central Security Module'.

i can confirm that the keypad and door handle are two seperate units... i installed a keypad/new handle on my 03 xlt. it doesn't sound like you will have two replace the keypad, however... it is like an $80.00 part...
