Unhappy Distributor Plug Wiring

I can't believe I did this BUT...I replaced my Distributor, Rotor,Plugs and Wires on my 93 F150 V8 and I thought I had the plug wiring down BUT I think I got it wrong some how because the engine won't even start now ! ,I understand that the cylinders are numbered 1,2,3,4 (left side, front to rear when looking standing in front looking aft) and 5,6,7,8 front to rear right side ,There is a #1 imprinted on the Distributor on the contact at the 12:00 position (again as looking from the front to rear) So I hooked up the wires CCW starting at the # 1 terminal and hooked up the rest of the wires to cylinders 2 thru 8, should be simple right ? ...Well my Haynes manual actually show the # 1 contact being at the 1;00 O'Clock position not the 12;00 position as shown on the distributor cap so I shifted everything 1 position to the right and still no good, the truck wont start at all, it tried to fire some and then it starts bucking and Icna tell that it is miswired but I am confused as to the correct wiring order..Can someone clarify this ,I would like to find a good picture of the wiring pattern but have not been able to find anything on the Web..Please help..i am without transportation till I get this figured out.

Thanks

Sounds like you installed the wires in numerical order onto the cap. The wires are not installed onto the distributor in numerical order. They must be installed in the "firing order" specific to your direction in the direction of the distributor's rotation beginning witht he marked #1 post on the cap.

The firing order should be around here somewhere. Heck, it might even be in the Haynes.
