Your seat belt chime shouldn't start talking to you for a couple minutes after you've started the engine, or turned the ignition to the run position without the belt fastened. It will then chime for awhile and stop, and drive you nuts. I have an extra buckle I keep in the glove box to stick in the receiver when I'm working on the truck or tooling around the property and getting in and out frequently. You can also disable the chime. The procedure should be in your owners' manual. Most late fords: Get in, shut off all accessories. Turn the ignition to the run position without starting the engine. Watch the seat belt light on the instrument panel until it goes out. Then plug the drivers belt in and disconnect 3 times, followed by turning the headlight switch on and off, and plugging the seatbelt in another 3 times and disconnecting. Now, watching the seatbelt light again, wait a few seconds until it responds, then plug the seatbelt in and disconnect within 7 seconds, and you're done. It will flash a confirmation sequence to tell you it's done.
