how do you trace down a blinker fuse?
how do you trace down a blinker fuse?
my right blinker has been acting up. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it blinks real fast. The rear right blinker works but the front one does not. I've replaced all the bulbs. Will this be an expensive thing to fix?
Thanks for your help guys,
John

If it works sometimes, then it's NOT a fuse! It's a poor connection. If the rear light works all the time, then the problem is NOT there!
Look at the front light system, starting at the bulb. That poor connection could be anywhere in the front system. Is the connection clean to the bulb clean? Follow the wiring back toward the dash. Look for plugs. Unplug them. Are they all clean? Follow all the way to the steering column. It "could" be the signal light switch. That costs money to replace! It's cheaper to be sure all the connections and harnesses are good before replacing the switch.
Sometimes, intermittent problems are the devil to find! If you don't find it, get a *good* mechanic to fix it.

Several Thread on this, where the connector in the steering column has pulled apart slightly, and after time the contacts start to discolor.
If you take off the steering wheel column cover, and take a look at the connector, it might be straight away an easy fix.
To test the MFS itself, to see if you have a problem with the switch, prior to replacing it :

If the rear lamp works properly but the front does not, then it CANNOT be the MFS. It has to be an intermittent open circuit to the front lamp AFTER the splice where the front and rear circuits separate.

do you guys think i should take it to a shop and tell them the information you gave me as a starting point to fix the problem. I'm posative i would not be able to take the dashboard apart to find wiring problems.
