Yes they are very much related. Your radio was probably on due to the RAP circuit still being activated. In my vehicle 98 Expedition this problem was caused by water getting into the upper dash instrument panel by a water leak under my windshield. There could be condensation from your cooling coils that could also get up into the plug of the Body Control Module that is under the dash. When water gets on or in the multi pin plug it causes a series of problems. Since the BCM controls several important functions such as door locks, lights, e.t.c; faults in the BCM or circuit cause a diverse series of problems. Look up the mounting of the BCM in your unit, and get access to this box. Check for water intrusion in the area of the BCM box.
What happened to me was that the lower windshield wax had a gap that let water get into the cabin above the center of the dash. I got the coat pull from one of the tech's at my dealer (Lowman Ford , Edison,NJ). It happens often in these vehicles. Check it out.

I made a mistake in naming the Ford Generic Electronic Module (GEM) as a "body Module" . GM has named their multifunction controller a GBM or General Body Module.
The Ford GEM is under the dash around the center of the console behind the radio, and HVAC control.
