halo projector headlights

i have a 2001 150 and i am looking into getting new headlights the halo ones i really like, i have a tinted windshield and at night its hard to see, when it rains i can barely see but like it when someone has their brights on,but its still hard to see at night, but love it during the day time for privacy and blocking the sun, anyway what is the best brand and what is the best bulb wattage and color/temp like 5000k or 8000k etc i am only looking to spend $150 tops
thanks

Are you just wanting projection lights or are you wanting projection and HID lights?

The optimum lighting would be around 4300, the higher you go after that is purely for color spectrum and actually reduce usable light.

Going under $150 for a set can be done and there are many out there but you also have to remember that "You get what you paid for" and some are not the best of quality.

The fact that you have a tinted windshield, and I am assuming it is a darker tint, you will always have to give up visual for looks. Be careful of the color selection for your lights for the tint will make some spectrums useless.

yea i have a tinted windshiled not much but enough where i can tell the difference pretty good when i stick my head out the window and look at hos bright my lights are compared to looking through the windshiled, but i dont want HID lights figure too much work and money or am i wrong, i am assuming i have around 50 or 60% tint on my windshield so if i put 5000k headlights in will that work,i put the xenon blulbs in my truck they were 7500k i think and it sucked even though said to be brighter i changed to silverstar and world of difference so what are your suggestions in brand and bulb brand and rating
thanks

I would have to say that my personal experience, I liked the silverstars over the PIAA. They are all halogens but are spiced up with xenon gas. They have a shorter life span (For me anyway) than standard halogens but give off better light or the illusion of better light. It really all depends were you drive. On the street most like the white or colored lights up to violet but you really are not getting good true lighting from it, their lighting is from the street lights. If you are in the country of back roads, I find the best are the yellowish 4000k range lighting.

For my truck, I ended up adding secondary lighting (HID projection driving lights tied to the brights and went back to the high output halogens MTEC 55/65 because they are just cheap and i can stock pile, truck has the 9007 bulbs) I'm on the highway more than in the city. Needless to say, this is more for functionality than appearance.

I'm thinking of converting to HID for my 99 Expedition but I have a bit of issues with the modifications I want to complete first, including a leveling and washing system like my car has but with a bit of time and some more time, some help... ok, lots of help... someday.

Hope that helps a bit, oh... if you are looking for projection lights without the halo then you have more options and for those with the halo, there are two types, the more expensive use CCFL halos.

Keep in mind that this is all just my person opinion and experience and might be vastly different than others.

i bought a set of silverstars and a set of piaa(top model for both) just to see which one i like better... i put one in one headlight and one in the other..i was hoping the piaa was gunna beat the silverstars(especially since they were more expnsive and i like the slight blue color from the bulbs) but when i put them up to the garage and went at it from different distances the silverstars we a little higher and brighter.. i took it out on the road and same.. i parked by a field and the silverstars were still higher and brighter so i am going to take the piaa out and stick with the silverstars... i love piaa but when it comes to my headlights i want the best performance... cant wait to get my 540's on this week.. enjoy..
