Radio goes of when headlamps turned on
I recently purchased a 2001, F150 with a 4.2 and automatic.
The only problem I have is that when you turn on the headlights the radio goes off. In order for this to happen the seat belt has to be done up and the transmission either in drive or reverse.
The truck is equipped with a remote car starter and I was wondering if this could be some of the problem because I can hear two clicks coming from under the dash, such as a sound a relay or flasher would make. Hope this is enough information. Thanks.

Strange dat.
Try a new - sanded down to bare metal - earth for your radio. Try soldering [rather than simply crimping] your wire onto a proper ring terminal.
A poor earth is the result of many in-cab electrical issues.... not all but quite a few.

sounds to me like there is a problem with the way the remote starter is installed. when you say the radio is off, is it just the display? or the whole unit is completly turned off. when do you hear the clicks? when you put it in gear?
