wth? My remote opens OTHER ford vehicles!

Went to pick up my 03 truck yesterday at the dealer and return the loaner after final fixit stuff that I had them do. The salesman used my clicker to unlock the loaner 01 SC and it beeped and opened the car behind it also.

I need to run by walmart and see how many other Ford vehicles it opens

spooky and not leaving me feeling very secure leaving belongings in my truck!

That doesnt make sense at all... He must have had other remotes on him or in his pocket and was messing with you. IDK but the remotes are programmed for individual vehicles. Or there was just a 1 in a 100 million chance. That both the vehicles were on IDENTICAL frequencies.

nope. it was my remote! it was actually the remote for the loaner which was on the lot for sale, but the salesman gave it to me as part of the sale and told me to go online to find out how to program it for my truck.

my husband programmed it for our truck the next day, so it shouldn't have had the code any longer for the loaner truck. And opening the one behind it was even freakier.

I'm going to see what else it will open.

Could be. A RKE fob can be programmed to multiple Ford vehicles.

The ID of the remote is stored in the RAP/CSM, nothing from the vehicle is stored in the remote itself. Stupid of them to do that, as until those vehicles are entered into programming mode ( start of programming erases all previous remotes ) you will be able to open those vehicles.

Gather all your remotes, and reprogram them, this will erase any other remotes that were programmed in the truck before you got it.

thank you scully! I just got 2 more fobs today from ebay and we'll program them all tommorow.

I'm pretty sure the SUV behind the loaner was a GMC Yukon that it also opened. I remember him saying "Look at that!". He did it a couple times to duplicate it and sure enough it opened.

Maybe since they are all thier loaner vehicles they program the remotes to open several vehicles incase of lost, stolen or locked in remotes/keys.

Another note, i have never heard of a car "beeping" when it unlocked.

no it didn't beep - it flashed it's lights.

the fob was from a previous owner's trade in. I don't know what happened. I haven't had time to check it out at the local mall yet. Will be interesting to see the results.
