1997 F150 Won't shift, replace fuse, blows instantly!! HELP

I have a 1997 F150 2wd. The other day i started it and it wouldn't shift out of park.. I checked the fuses and fuse #13 had blown. I replaced it and It worked fine.. Again today I started it up, and I couldn't shift it out of park. I replaced the fuse and instantly it blew.... i tried again. it blew and agin it blew... My brake lights arent working... fuse #13 is blown and blows instantly if i replace it.. And i can't shift it out of park (unless i put it in neutral, then start it.. But that's annoying) and my emergency brake light and abs lights are on. Please help.. this is driving me absolutely nuts!!!!!

Go get your cruise recall done immediately.

Check the wires on the brake line switch.......also do a search under "won't come out park"

I just went through this with my 97, it is the cruise control deactivation switch filling with brake fluid.(which causes the fires) and blowing the fuse, this will kill your brake lights and YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET YOUR TRUCK OUT OF GEAR.
Unplug the switch, located in front of the brake master cylinder and replace the fuse. your cruise control wont work until you get the recall and replace the switch but you will be able to drive your truck.

Ford does not cover the switch under it's recall (why fix the problem) but they will replace the harness to the switch.
There is a horror story about me taking it to the dealer but I will spare you that and tell you to just buy the switch and change it yourself, takes about 10 min.

There are two kits.

One is for vehicles with no indication of leakage and has only the harness in it.

The other has the switch in it also for identified leakers.
